Your Brain On Nature

Here is what happens to your brain after being outside for just a few minutes.

Your self-esteem and mood begin to rise in just 5 minutes. Try just stepping outside with your morning cup of coffee?  This will start your day off right.

In 30 minutes outdoors your happiness increases.  Symptoms of depression decrease.  Find an outdoor café or a park bench to spend your lunch hour.  That should increase your focus and energy for the whole afternoon.

Being outside for 90 minutes decreases the blood flow to your subgenual prefrontal cortex, an area of the brain involved in negative thoughts.  Less negative thoughts are always a good thing!   How about supper on the porch, take time for a glass of wine, and stay for the sunset show.  An evening of happiness.

Give these suggestions a try.  Even one will make a difference.  Try all three —————- Oh Happy Day!
