Thinking Too Much?

I often have clients that tell me they think too much.  They most likely think the same amount as the rest of the population, but maybe just don’t like what they are thinking.  The average brain has about 50,000 thoughts per day.  Yes, you read that right, fifty thousand thoughts per day.

It is believed that 70 percent of them are negative. When I was first introduced to this fact I didn’t believe it either.  I didn’t think my thoughts were negative.  So I paid very close attention to my thoughts for just one morning.  I realized that many of my thoughts were negative or had a bit of a negative twist.

If you are having lots of thoughts that is good, that is how a healthy brain works.  And if a lot of those thoughts are negative that means you are a normal human being.
