Bitter Sweet Days

Today is Mother’s Day and for many mothers it is more of a bitter day than a happy one.  There are moms out there that have lost a child.  Moms who don’t have the relationship they want with their children and this one can swing the other way too.  There are those of us who’s mothers have gone to their reward and we miss them today.  For me it is the day my sister died.  If you fall into any of these categories on this special occasion or another it may make your day a less than happy one.

Even if you have many reasons to celebrate the holiday there may be a little sad and bitter to the taste of it all.  It is grief.  There is nothing “wrong” with you.  It is always OK to feel your feelings.  Maybe it would help to talk about your sadness a little so you can let go and smile today.  Share some good memories. Put flowers on your mother’s grave.  Shed some tears.  Make your sadness part of the day, instead of trying to deny it.

Mostly, I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.
