Private Time

Are you answering emails at breakfast, lunch, and dinner?  Getting up at 5AM to do the laundry?  Baking school cupcakes at 10PM?  Reading work related material in bed at 1AM?

Once upon a time in a land now far, far away, we left work and were done for the day!  But now we are on duty 24/7 due to technology.  And it isn’t just work, we are on call to our parents, siblings, and friends 24/7 as well.  I know you love these people.  I know your job is important. Taking time to kick back is also important.

You need downtime, private time, solo time!  It is important to avoid burnout. It helps you avoid stress related illness.  It is good for your mental health.  It keeps you mentally sharp, emotionally grounded, and meaningfully connected yourself.  When you take care of yourself you bring your best to everything you do.  You will truly be there for your family.  Instead of half there, because stress and fatigue is interfering.  You will bring your A-game to work. Self-care isn’t selfish.  Everyone wins!

Sit aside me time. Schedule it in, just like it was important, (because it is). Guard it against all those things others think they need immediately.  Find a personal space, have quiet time, and pleasurable activity. Do it daily. Turn off your devises. Remember it is good for everyone.

I GIVE YOU ___________________________ PERMISSION TO TAKE PERSONAL, SOLO TIME DAILY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.
